Cv Axle Leaking Fluid
See the photo of a bad cv axle.
Cv axle leaking fluid. I was getting an oil change at the dealership today and they pointed it out. The constant velocity joint (cv) axles of a vehicle are essential parts of the vehicle’s drive train. The half shaft or cv joint has now fluid in it, there is a grease in that joint so that is not your source of a leak.
The seal is brand new as is the cv axle. The car is 3 years old with 24,000 miles on it. (brand new cv axle, just installed) hey everyone,.
Without proper lubrication, a cv joint will not last long. The cv axle shaft seal is a rubber or metal seal that is located where a vehicle’s cv axle meets the transmission, differential, or transfer case. The job of an axle seal is to keep the transmission fluid or differential oil from leaking out.
I was told the new cv came with a dust shield that goes between the cv n diff housing n apparently my cv that i bought from autozone didn't have one. So i got the cv axle back in, but need to know where to add the gear fluid. My transmission operates as it should in every gear as well.
I was replacing the front driver side strut and the cv axel popped out draining the fluid. Took delivery from eddy's toyota in wichita, ks. So according to the mechanic the new cv axle is what solved the problem of the leaky diff seal.
I don’t know how similar your avalon is to my camry, but replacing the whole cv axles yourself is actually a very cheap and easy job. It prevents fluid from leaking out of the transmission or differential housing as the cv axle rotates when the vehicle is in motion. There was hardly any fluid left at that point but you can see it dripping out still.
