Now the noise is gone!!

Cv shaft noise when turning. Symptoms of a bad cv axle shaft. My car is sounding like a cv joint going out by the thunking noise when turning. A bad cv joint will exhibit a clunking noise as the transmission engages.

A bad or failing cv joint will oftentimes make a clicking, popping or grinding noise, especially when turning. Its there the hub meets. It doesn't get louder the more or less you turn.

Typically this indicates an issue with the outer cv joint, and the sound is the loudest on the joint that’s opposite of the turning direction. If it is a humming or whining noise it is most likely a wheel bearing. Drove it away, and it was running great.

When cv axles become excessively worn, the joints will. I noticed this noise coming from my girl's 97 eclipse about 2 months ago. 2 months ago the noise was faint, but noticeable.

The noise is on driver side 100%. It is a cv jointed shaft instead of the u joints. It is still running great (after driving all the way home) but, i noticed it is making a loud clunking, metal on metal kind of noise on the front left axle when in first gear, happens more when turning (i think right, but maybe both right and left).

A humming or growling noise. As soon as i am on a straight road or at higher speeds the noise goes away. A clunking sound, during this phase of testing, can indicate either an inner or outer cv joint failure;
